Dog Friendly Stays at Fell Farm Hideaway

Many of our guests enjoy exploring Northumberland with their dogs, and we are happy to welcome one well-behaved dog per cabin at Fell Farm Hideaway.

Our cabins sit within a working farm landscape, surrounded by open countryside, wildlife and livestock. With a little care and consideration, this can be a wonderful environment for both dogs and their owners to enjoy.

Below are a few simple guidelines to help ensure that everyone – including our animals and other guests – has a peaceful stay.

Bringing Your Dog

We welcome one dog per cabin by prior arrangement.

Please ensure your dog is:

  • Well behaved and comfortable in new environments

  • Used to livestock and rural surroundings

  • Never left unattended in the cabin

We kindly ask that all dog mess is picked up and put in the dog poo waste bins provided as it can be fatal to our closed herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and Dorset Horn sheep

Our cabins provide a calm and relaxing environment, and we ask guests to ensure that dogs do not cause disturbance to neighbouring cabins.

Dogs on a Working Farm

Fell Farm Hideaway is located on a working cattle farm.

For the safety of our livestock, wildlife and your dog, we kindly ask that:

  • Dogs are kept on leads

  • Dogs remain under close control at all times

Livestock can be unpredictable, and even the most friendly dog can trigger defensive behaviour from cattle or sheep. Keeping dogs on leads protects everyone.

Walking with Dogs

Northumberland offers wonderful walking opportunities for guests with dogs.

Some excellent nearby options include:

  • Hallington Reservoir – quiet waterside walking close to the cabins - five minutes in the car

  • Colt Crag Reservoir – gentle countryside paths - ten minutes in the car

  • Allen Banks – woodland and riverside trails

  • Hexham riverside walks along the River Tyne

Many areas around Hadrian’s Wall also allow dogs, although leads are usually required where livestock are present.

If you would like suggestions for suitable walks during your stay, we are always happy to help.

Inside the Cabins

To help keep the cabins comfortable for all guests, we ask that:

  • Dogs do not go on beds or sofas

  • Dogs are dried before entering the cabin after wet walks

  • Muddy paws are cleaned before coming inside

A small additional cleaning charge may apply if excessive cleaning is required after your stay.

A Peaceful Environment for Everyone

Fell Farm Hideaway is designed to offer a quiet countryside escape for couples and nature lovers.

We ask dog owners to help maintain this peaceful atmosphere by ensuring dogs remain calm and well supervised throughout their stay.

Most guests find that the surrounding countryside, fresh air and long walks make for very contented dogs.
